A beaming bride and groom hold hands in front of a grand victorian mansion, surrounded by lush greenery and a mountain backdrop, celebrating their wedding day.

The Newhall Mansion is the epitome of a hidden gem. Nestled against a mountain in the quaint town of Piru, the property doesn’t fully present itself until you’re at its front gates. They slowly roll open, you start to pull forward, and suddenly you feel like you’re in the opening scene of a movie.

The Victorian estate stands there proudly, overlooking the surrounding valley with a keen gaze. You know immediately that this place could tell some serious stories. You briefly wonder if you’ll have any ghost encounters. It’s an entire vibe.

You walk in, and the interior is everything you could have hoped. It’s dark and moody with aged wood and stained glass. Varying patterns and textures coalesce from the floors to the ceilings. The details of the architecture are exquisite.

As you explore through the rest of the house, a warm and familiar ambiance becomes more and more apparent. Even the nearly pitch-black tavern somehow evokes a friendly feeling. You can easily envision a family from a vintage portrait—or perhaps a coven—comfortably living here.

Then you step outside behind the house and are greeted by a lush garden and sprawling terrace. It’s the perfect mix of elegance and Southern California charm. Golden hour there is pure magic.

And now for the really cool part: it’s a one-stop shop for your wedding. There are multiple layout and location options. Their in-house caterer is fabulous and can match a menu to any preferences or dietary restrictions. Best of all, you can even stay there overnight with your nearest and dearest. It’s part traditional venue, part Airbnb, and part boutique hotel.

All of this is capped off with a top-notch staff and team of professionals. I’m not exaggerating when I say that every single event that I’ve photographed there has been flawless. It’s one of my most favorite places to work!

When Maegan and Alex approached me about their wedding, I immediately knew that we were going to have an amazing time together. They were equally excited about the venue and incorporating all of its unique elements into their photos.
